At Garmin we put a premium on our people. We know that while our success depends on the products we create, it’s ultimately our people who create them. Our associates embody the Garmin values and carry out our mission and vision every day. We treat our associates right, and they pay it forward and give back to their communities.—
Garmin invests in the communities where our associates live and work by making donations to charitable organisations, sponsoring events and serving as volunteers. Various Garmin offices participate annually in their local United Way campaigns, with the company matching associates’ personal donations.
In 2020 Garmin and our employees raised more than $1.6 million for the United Way and partnering community organizations.
We support the active lifestyles of community members and our own associates by sponsoring events such as the Garmin Kansas City Marathon, a world-renowned gravel cycling race, and various cycling, running and multisport events around the world. These events allow us to engage with our customers, celebrate their accomplishments and gain feedback that goes right back into our product R&D efforts.
Garmin has joined forces with the National Runners Alliance, an advocacy initiative to help fight harassment that female runners experience.
This alliance provides education and tools, and Garmin used the platform to spread awareness of the safety features incorporated into our running watches, such as assistance and incident detection features that can send a runner’s location to emergency contacts.
Sustainability is about more than making money. It’s about reinvesting in ways that ensure a long, vibrant future. Garmin is committed to providing associates with continued learning opportunities through a variety of courses, ranging from technical aspects to personal growth. We also encourage continued professional education by offering tuition reimbursement.
With an eye to our future workforce, Garmin offers a robust internship program and was recognised by Vault as having one of the best tech and engineering internships.
We have more than 270 interns across 15 locations.
Garmin is also active in various STEM outreach programs, which inspire younger generations to pursue education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Other events, such as hosting International Women of Aviation Week, encourage women and minorities to pursue life-changing careers in technology.
Our goal is to attract, develop and train people from around the globe who represent all walks of life. We live in a diverse, multicultural world, and we want our associates to reflect the world we live in. We believe that only when we bring people of different backgrounds together can we truly deliver unique solutions for our customers. To foster associate engagement and connections among diverse groups, Garmin has several employee resource groups (ERGs). These associate-led groups offer personal and professional development, leadership and volunteer opportunities. More than 1,000 associates, including Garmin executives, are involved in these groups.
We are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all of our associates. We provide associates with health and safety trainings that are appropriate for their job functions. We comply with safety laws and appropriate standards that apply to our business. Additionally, our manufacturing facilities in Asia have been certified to the international occupational health and safety standard ISO 45001.
Our goal at Garmin is to ensure that human rights are upheld for all workers involved in our supply chain and that individuals experience safe, fair and nondiscriminatory working conditions. Garmin supports suppliers who share our belief that fair labor practices and safe working environments are an inherent part of human rights.
We condemn modern slavery in all forms.
